Hi,
I am using a USB wireless mouse and in the last few days a problem that had disappeared came back. I am referring to the way my muse suddenly freezes and I have to wait until it 'unfreezes' before I can do anything. This problem ocurred before about a year ago and then went away. Since I update every few days I presume that one of the updates changed something related to HAL or something like that. KDE4 is my WM of choice and anytime I open Dolphin it freezes for up to two full minutes.
It's really annoying and from time to time makes the machine unusable.
Does anyone have any ideas???
Thanks.

Hello MillTek!
Which driver/xorg/kernel do you use ? Did you xorg.conf changed ? Is there any related in log files, like dmesg, syslog, errorlog, xorglog ?

Hi djszapi,
The driver is evdev. XOrg-server is vanilla 1.6.3-3, kernel is 2.6.30.4-1. I can't find anything in any of the various logs related to the problem.
From xorg.conf;
Identifier "USBMouse"
Driver "evdev"
Option "Device" "/dev/input/by-id/usb-Microsoft_Microsoft_2.4GHz_Transceiver_v5.0-event-mouse"
Option "SendCoreEvents" "true"
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
Option "Buttons" "5"
Option "AllowEmptyInput" "false"

Could you try another desktop environment too ? If you try from console with gpm driver, can you experience this bug ?

Hi djszapi,
I don't have any other WMs installed and I use this machine for some work-type stuff so I would like to try not damage the KDE4 install. The weird thing with this bug is that it might not happen for days and then it will happn every 5 minutes for hours.
What is the gpm driver??
Thanks

1. If you try another desktop environment and you've got enough free space on your disk, it won't hurt your KDE environment in normal case.
2. "What is the gpm driver??" -> http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pos … _.28gpm.29
