Date and time problem

I have strange issue with Arch Linux when I reboot and boot Arch after Kubuntu Linux. Time is not good, two hours late, so if time is 21:00 in Arch is 19:00. I set up time, but when reboot and came to Arch from Kubuntu, problem with time is here again. I set time to local time Europe/Belgrade if that is important. How to resolve this?

Re: Date and time problem

Sounds like you are mixing localtime and utc. Try seting both ubuntu and arch to use the same.

Re: Date and time problem

Try setting time like you want , just type:

date time that you want

Shell Scripter | C/C++/Python/Java Coder | ZSH

Re: Date and time problem

You could use ntp (or better openntp) to get the correct time from time-servers but that's just a dirty workaround here..

If it's exactly 2 houers late, then it sounds like it may be a time zone problem.

Try reinstalling the package that provides the timezones, and do a cp /usr/share/zoneinfo/Where/Ever /etc/localtime

Re: Date and time problem

going off of the recent influx of time related posts... two quick sanity checks:

  -- you don't have an /etc/rc.conf.pacnew lying around do you?

  -- you aren't specifying local in rc.conf are you? (it should be localtime)

aside from that, continue with the wise Mr Elendig's advice.

Re: Date and time problem

rc.conf:

LOCALE="en_US.utf8"
HARDWARECLOCK="UTC"
USEDIRECTISA="no"
TIMEZONE="Europe/Belgrade"
KEYMAP="us"
CONSOLEFONT=
CONSOLEMAP=
USECOLOR="yes"

If I put localtime or just local I have same problem like with "UTC", so I tried to set bios time two hours i future and than set time in Arch correct because Kubuntu will set time by himself from bios. For now everything working, but this solution is so dirty, very, very dirty....
