This happens to me too, for every CD or DVD I insert.

check if you have in System-Preferences->Session gnome-volume-manager and uncheck it. relogin or reboot and insert a cd
Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

I dont't have gnome-volume-manager installed, but i still get this bug in both of my desktop and laptop. Really annoying. Ubuntu 9.04 doesn't have this issue. Downloaded some packages, to check ubuntu patches, but didn't find anything related to this bug.

Tried starting the session with ck-launch-session gnome-session instead of gdm and i didn't get duplicates. Interesting..

I have the same issue too. In fact, when I insert the media it asks twice what to do. I have to disable preferences in the media tab in nautilus.

Just for the record, I confirm I have the same problem. It seems to be some workaround in this bug reports. http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/13138
http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/13244
which are duplicated bugs.
I think there will be a solution soon.

As root you can try
mv /usr/bin/nautilus-autorun-software /usr/bin/bad-nautilus-autorun-software
just renaming the autorun file
you can revert that of course if it doesn't work with
mv /usr/bin/bad-nautilus-autorun-software /usr/bin/nautilus-autorun-software
once again as root.
good luck.

I just write to say that I am also having this problem. Nautilus executes or offers twice every single action related to external devices, everytime.

I've also been suffering from this for a long time now. I would love to know if there is a resolution. As you can see from my screenshot, I have disabled volume manager completely and it still prompts twice(Yes I restarted after disabling volume manager).
