Hello everyone!
At first. I downloaded installation cd for archlinux 2009.08 both core and netinstall. However both cd didn't have more groupe of packages than base and base-devel.:( Wth?
So I started install by pacman all I need. I have kde, kdm, xorg, drivers, etc. But when I enter startx I see three consoles and one watch(I don't know how explaine it, I hope users will understand me:)). When I enter startkde I see kde, but windows-maneger looks like it from the first environment.:o When I enter kdm I see normal kdm, but after logining I'm come back to console-login.:(
I want to make auto startx->kdm->kde. Can somebody help me?:rolleyes:
P.S. Yes, I visited wiki.
P.P.S. Deeply sorry. I am noob and my English far to perfect.

I think that you will need to edit /etc/inittab if you want it to auto boot into X and kdm. Comment out the "id:3:initdefault:" and uncomment "id:5:initdefault:" in order to boot into runlevel 5 (X) and then uncomment the "x:5:respawn:/usr/bin/kdm -nodaemon" and comment out "#x:5:respawn:/usr/bin/xdm -nodaemon". When you reboot it should automatically load KDM.
Is this what you were asking for? I hope this helps.

Sorry, no. I read it in wiki and it works. But I can't load kde by kdm.

Ok, sorry. Does it give any errors in the logs when you attempt to log in? Probably in /var/log/kdm.log or one of the other log files in there?

kdm.log has old my errors. There is nothing interesting in xorg.logs. Something else?
I may show, but I don't know howto attach files to this forum.

Could you post your /etc/rc.conf and your /etc/inittab file? It might help to see what is happening.

Sure.
/etc/rc.conf: http://pastebin.com/m1bbf0285
/etc/inittab: http://pastebin.com/m5d2cb566

The only difference between your rc.conf and mine is that you haven't started HAL. Use pacman to install hal and add it to your daemons in rc.conf to read:
DAEMONS=(syslog-ng network netfs crond hal)
Hope this helps.
