Substitute for Compiz's zoom plugin

I'm not really into all this flashy stuff like desktop animations, opacity etc., the only two Compiz plugins I use are the active corners and zoom. Active corners are not really that important to me, I use just one for hiding all the windows.
But zoom, oh man, I can't imagine using a pc without zoom anymore.
So my question is simple, is there an application that fills the same role as the zoom plugin (zooms a part of the screen your mouse cursor is over, you can zoom in/out with the mouse wheel and move the point of view around and even interact with your desktop when in the zoom mode by clicking things, opening menus etc)?
I'd gladly dump Compiz for Openbox if not for my little lovely zoom plugin :x
