mouse button stops working sometimes

Hey all,

when i do a startx, after a few minutes  the mouse button stops working. Sometimes it comes back. I can always move the cursor around, but can't click.  Weird. Tried with a different mouse, same thing. tried different window managers (fluxbox and gnome). Still no luck.

Anyone seen this one?
thanks

Re: mouse button stops working sometimes

Is this a new install or a problem after an update?

You can try

grep -i "mouse" /var/log/Xorg.0.log

to see if this might be an Xorg problem.

You can try, with root privileges,

grep -i "usb" /var/log/messages.log

to check for a USB problem.

There are other things to check; I just don't know them.

Re: mouse button stops working sometimes

ok, i did find some more info due to your  grep -i "mouse"  tip. Seems that HAL and my equipment were not playing nice together.
There was a line in Xlog that mentioned disableing my mouse because of it's drivers ("mouse") and AllowEmptyInput being set to true.

So, i erased all the references to my mouse in xorg.conf  and a startx later, i am good to go.

thanks for your help, thisoldman
