The previous version of skype used to work OK, but I cannot get the new (beta) version 2.1.0.47 to capture any sound from the microphone. Audacity does record from the microphone. All the sound devices in skype are set to "default", but I tried changing but still no capture. The audio from skype works OK, it is just the microphone capture.
Just in case it is relevant: at boot, Alsa fails saying that it will use a "guess" method. When starting KDE, kmix also says something about an error and "falling back to (I do not remember the name)". But the audio looks to work OK but for skype (just record, playback is OK).
