Everynow and then, my touchpad doesn't work in OpenBox.

It's really annoying. Arch runs amazingly well, but every now and then, my touchpad stops working. The mouse is still there, and I can move it, but mouse clicks (using the physical buttons, aswell as touchpad taps) just don't register. I've tried opening a terminal and restarting HAL when this happens, but it doesn't help.

Any ideas?

Well, it's not an openbox issue - it's an X issue. Next time it happens, check your X log for clues. Your kernel log might help too.

Thank you for the advice. I've just checked my Xorg.0.log as its just happened, and I've seen this.

This then repeats down the log.
However, right now I cannot close windows, or interact with task on PyPanel with my touchpad, but can use it within the firefox window. Any ideas on what could be wrong?

BUMP.
Anyone? Apologies, I hate bumping too. But I have no clue how to fix this. It leaves me with no power in controlling windows, forcing me to kill and restart X.

BUUMP. It keeps happening, with the same error messages in the Xorg logs. No idea whats causing the problems. Really, anyone?

Re: Everynow and then, my touchpad doesn't work in OpenBox.

On my Asus Eee PC 701, running Arch + Openbox, I occasionally lose the scroll function on the touchpad, but otherwise it seems to work okay. For X I'm using xf86-video-intel and xf86-input-synaptics.

Unfortunately, because the Eee has a SSD rather than a hard drive, I've directed logging to RAM, so I haven't actually tracked any error in Xorg.0.log. But will try to do so if I find the scroll disappearing again.

I would agree that this seems much more of an X than an Openbox issue.

I'm not so sure though. This whole fiasco has meant that I've been trying out different WMs, and some tiling ones too. In neither xmonad or awesome, this problem didn't occur. However, this might just be because I dont really use my touchpad much in tiling WMs, or pure coincedence.
