LUKS for DM-Crypt

I am reading the wiki page on LUKS for dm-crypt and I was wondering how encryption would affect file system stability. For example, if power goes off while writing to disk, could encryption add problems to recovery or running fsck?

Also, it should possible to access an encrypted partition from the Arch Linux install CD. Correct?

Re: LUKS for DM-Crypt

yes you can open any encrypted blockdevice (if you have the password or whatever) using 'cryptsetup luksOpen', using any liveCD (incl other distro's) as long as they have support for luks/dm_crypt.

I never had corruption problems, but i didn't have much powerfailures either.  my laptop went off a few times when it was out of power, and it had no problems at the next boot. (but the laptop was not doing any i/o when it went off)

Re: LUKS for DM-Crypt

Thanks for the information Dieter. I've been testing Arch for the last couple of days and whole disk encryption is the next thing I want to try.
