Fonts: Monaco in Archlinux (solved)

I noticed that the font Monaco - which I love for coding, along with others,
like Deajvu Sans Mono and Inconsolata - does not render nicely in Archlinux. I have anoter
machine with Ubuntu, and it renders 'better'. It's not something that would prevent me from
using Arch as my default distro (I simply can't live without arch). I think there must be
something that could be done. I'm still lacking knowledge. Look at the difference yourselves:

In Ubuntu:

In Archlinux:

I am using with Openbox. If I use Gnome, the result is the same.

Any help would be appreciated.

Are you using the same style? Monaco on Ubuntu seems "fatter", like when using a bold font.
Other than that, they both render properly.

Re: Fonts: Monaco in Archlinux (solved)

You'll need to install one of the LCD filter packages mentioned in this wiki entry

http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Font_Configuration

For myself and many others they make fonts appear much smoother and just 'better' overall.  I think the Ubuntu packages are most commonly used, and they worked great for me with no configuration whatsoever.
If you don't have a ~/.fonts.conf file you will probably want to set that up as well (also covered in the wiki entry above).

Karol:

Yes. I am using the same style. I noticed that even menus and panel fonts in Ubuntu
are 'fatter'. Not just in vim.

Those Ubuntu filter packages worked great.

Thank you guys. May the force be with you.
