[SOLVED]connecting a network based in windows

[EDITED]
buddys! ok, i always asking noob questions but my network knowledges are worst then all x_x;

I'm trying to access a fixed IP network. the server is using windows server!

> To show that I am struggling in my studies. theoretically would be an 'ifconfig eth0 x.x.x.x'
where 'x.x.x.x' are define based on this

>> connection specific DNS suffix: acad.cesupa
>> IP address: 10.20.1.113
>> subnet mask: 255.255.0.0
>> gateway: 10.20.0.1

ok! the gateway is the "way" to web big_smile
submask says where the numbers change on the IP: 10.20.x.x

>> The basic network still I know, but what there! simply turning off a PC and use the IP it in my note, and add the other App.

>> Or is it the case of using Samba to make the communication?

thx buddys big_smile

Re: [SOLVED]connecting a network based in windows

What is your question? Your rambling isn't very clear....

You want to connect to the internet?
You want to connect to Windows file shares on the server?
You want to join the domain?

What have you tried so far? What errors do you get?

Re: [SOLVED]connecting a network based in windows

until now have not tried anything for lack of time! and yes, I need only reach the web = "www ..."

the network structure, I saw that maybe I should actually use iptables, I think, so I can validate my PC as a "network PC"

user@localhost $ grep -rnw "." -e "hacking"

Re: [SOLVED]connecting a network based in windows

To connect to the internet, you only need to set your IP Address / Subnet Mask and Default Route. How to do that is documented by the Beginners Guide in the wiki. You shouldn't have to do anything with iptables or Samba / Windows.

You will need to contact your network administrator to confirm what the correct settings are -- we have no idea.
