I Install arch but cannt Install a Desktop Environment.
try to use xfce4 gnome kde ....
when start gdm i see a masage :
myhust:
user name:
get user
password:
get password
but dont go to Desktop Environment(gnome or xfce4 ,...)
firezz...
I have samsung netbook N208(intel graphic)

Yes, follow the wiki guide carefully and everything will work out!
Also, don't install a login manager right away! Before, wait until you have configured your desktop, then, when everything works fine, try installing a login manager (even though I don't use one: I don't see its usefulness anymore).

Please be more concise. Have you installed a desktop environment yet? I would go with gnome, because it's familiar, especially if you use Ubuntu.

As root add a new user and add it to the groups , audio , video , optical , storage ,network ,power
Also edit your inittab to start the login manager of the DE you want .

If you are going the login manager route, make sure to select the correct entry for your desktop environment in your login manager's Session menu before you log in. The initial default is Xinit, which may not be what you wish for.
