How can I set default applications in Firefox?

I need to know how to set Ark as the archiving tool in Firefox 3.6 running KDE 4.5. When I want do download say a .zip or .tar file, the download window pops up and the default application is not selected. How can I overcome this?

I guess:  pacman -S gnome-vfs , is the solution.

Hello!

I don't think that gnome-vfs is required within a kde setup. It sounds more like a problem with xdg-open. You should associate the mime-type for zip/tar.gz-files with ark.

Ok. But firefox, needs gnome libraries to compile , and to get full functionality (4x: libgnomeui)...

@grimi

I think you may want to set the app/mime type within Firefox.  From the menu, "Edit >> Preferences >> Applications ".
