Overwritten /etc/root file

By mistake I overwritten the /etc/root file, and now I don't want to reboot.

Is the file important?

Is it system specific, or could I use one of yours?

Right now I'm trying to find any data recovery program..

TY!

Re: Overwritten /etc/root file

I don't have such file, so I don't know if it was important. Do you have some backups of it to give us the idea what was inside?
What filesystem is you /etc?

Shame on me!! shame!!

Discovered the problem.

By mistake I copied .bashrc to /etc, but named it root, because i wanted to copy .bashrc to /root, so it created a file in /etc named root

When I saw the content of the file I thought I overwritten an important file.

I'm in th linux world for some times, and an average cmdline user.

But i got scared..

All good now, can go to bed.
