im using a very/extremely old laptop its a sony vaio PCG-F490 and and when i type startx i get unable to connect to x server no such process server error errno3 errno 110 failed to load modle and what not i wish i could post the exact output of it but i cant ;_; i also get a no screens found and i cant for the life of me find the GD config file for xorg it SAYS its /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d but its flippen blank so bleh and ive hunted through the directory and nothing.
some of my info is
lspci | grep VGA
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: neomagic corporation NM2380 [MagicMedia 256XL +] (rev 10)
so i should replace its mistaen driver with 2380 right. and for the monitor problem i should set it to something like 0,0 right
EDIT: i foundz teh directory 4 teh xorg.conf.new it was in ~ -.-

Install xf86-video-neomagic and then try again with no xorg.conf.
The wiki has a good xorg page, you should read it.
