Re: Compiz in VirtualBox 3.2

I'm having the exact same problem, have you found anything out about this?

Found, but all the advice did not help.
This happened after Xorg upgraded to the latest version and drivers Guest Additions stopped functioning.
Later, Oracle released the latest version VeitualBox, I installed the driver. Hardware acceleration works but no Compiz.

Re: Compiz in VirtualBox 3.2

I didn't have the vboxvideo module installed which was giving drm errors in the logs, the 3rd to last post at https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=840973 has instructions on how to fix that.

So now I get

glxinfo | grep -i "direct rendering"; glxinfo | grep -i "renderer"
direct rendering: Yes
OpenGL renderer string: Chromium

But it still reverts back to software mode and the Xorg logs now show

[ 21.723] (EE) AIGLX error: vboxvideo does not export required DRI extension
[ 21.723] (EE) AIGLX: reverting to software rendering

What version of VirtualBox are you using that has hw acceleration working? I'm using 3.2.10 r66523 and couldn't get it without rebuilding the module as mentioned previously.

Read https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=68263

Re: Compiz in VirtualBox 3.2

Compiz in a virtual machine is pretty much useless anyways, this was more just an exercise for me to see what Arch is like. I think I'm giving up on this now.
