Hi,
I have a weird problem with XScreensaver in OpenBox. I used to start it via autostart.sh but recently deleted that because I don't need a screensaver.
XScreensaver is still launched on startup and I have no idea who or what launches it. There is nothing related to it in either autostart.sh or .xinitrc or /etc/xdg/autostart (there is only gdu-notification-daemon and gsettings-data-convert in there). PSTree reports it as being a child directly of init, which isn't very helpful.
Does anyone know who could be the culprit or how I could go about finding out who launches xscreensaver?

Don't know who starts it, but you can kill it by adding
xset s off
to your openbox autostart.sh. I nuke dpms from there too with
xset -dpms

OK, that worked. Still, anyone how it get's stared? Does the DPMS-function of the X server notice xscreensaver is installed and uses it automatically?

Are you running xdg-autostart? Also have a look in $XDG_CONFIG_HOME/autostart.

Hehe, turns out I'm an idiot. I looked in /etc/xdg/autostart, but not $XDG_CONFIG_HOME/autostart. It's in there all right ...
Thanks. quigybo
