[SOLVED] catalyst 10.10 and xf86-video-ati together in system

Hello.

Is it possible install catalyst 10.10 from AUR(http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=29111) with xf86-video-ati packages together in one system? If yes then how?
I want xf86-video-ati for office work and catalyst for gaming.

Can anyone help?

I do not think it is possible. Catalyst conflicts with xf86-video-ati – e.g. for that reason: xf86-video-ati depens on ati-dri and ati-dri depens on libgl from [extra]-repo. Catalyst brings its own libgl.

Even if you manage to install both parallel (maybe via modified PKGBUILD and configuration files), you have to exchange driver in x-server's configuration, modprobe or rmmod kernel modules and restart x.  Would that still fit to the KISS-principle?

At least I never have heard or read, that X can initiate two video drivers simultaneously and select between for various applications. But if it is possible please let me know.

Only way to do it is by writing some nasty wrapper script that moves the libgl files around. Not to mention that you probably want to use kms with the free drivers, but catalyst does not work with kms.

Yes, I use KMS with open source drivers.

Well, so maybe installation minimal Archlinux to another hdd partition will be easier and better way.
