Dzen2 + Japanese

Using dzen2-xft-xpm-xinerama-svn, I cannot get it to display any Japanese characters even when using a Japanese font. Japanese characters just appear as blocks or nothing at all.

Syntax example:

echo "初音ミク" | dzen2 -fn "profont-11" -p

Re: Dzen2 + Japanese

You need to use a font that has Japanese characters, Kochi Gothic for example.

Re: Dzen2 + Japanese

There's no way to have dzen2 pango patched or something so I can use the font I want and still have japanese render correctly?

AFAIK there isn't—but if you do find something like that, please let me know. smile Though I think the problem isn't that dzen doesn't make use of pango, but rather that it doesn't do unicode.
