On my way from Debian

Being that I'm sick of getting stuck with last year's packages, I've settled for an arch install tomorrow morning on a few new partitions.
I'll have my netbook next to me running in case I run into any trouble... I trust you guys can help me through if I run into a bumpy spot.
I'll also have the install guide up as well so hopefully things will sail right by.

luck, [you don't need much luck, it's pretty straight forward to get it up and running, as you'll know from debian, it's tweaking that takes the time]

Well, I got through the install process supposedly well... however when I boot it tells me there's no such partition as /dev/sdc3.
Now, I configured sdc completely when I installed arch with every filesystem it required... I'm not sure why exactly arch can't find /dev/sdc3

I'm also booting from grub2 which was installed via Debian and the settings seem correct.
Don't quite understand.

it gives me this error:

boot into a live cd and change the fstab entries to UUIDs

figured it out, had to change sda to sdc in grub2. grub-update didn't quite do the full bill. I'm up and going.

I personally find GRUB legacy way more convenient than the new GRUB2. Sure, it may have plenty of extra features, a cleaner codebase etc., but GRUB legacy is pretty much no-nonsense - and GRUB2 feels *very* complex to me; something a bootloader should not be.

Well I'm up and running, I haven't had any problems with GRUB2 besides the whole autoconfig thing... but it's a snap to just alter the configuration if something is a bit off.

Everything seems great. I've got it configured pretty much like my Debian build but it's just a lot newer and runs a tad faster.

I was actually amazed at how easily catalyst and fglrx was installed... it was a hell of a lot easier than any other install I've done of the driver.

hi welcome! I suggest you make separate topics for each problem. Also search the wiki and  forums first, they are pretty good. People tend to be helpful here as long as you show some effort yourself.
