KDE - Will only login with fail-safe session(SOLVED)

I installed a large update for kde and then rebooted,now i can only login to through the
kde fail safe session im not sure what went wrong but my /etc/fstab.pacnew file is missing
the partitions:

                               File: fstab.pacnew
#
# /etc/fstab: static file system information
#
# <file system>        <dir>         <type>    <options>          <dump> <pass>
devpts                 /dev/pts      devpts    defaults            0      0
shm                    /dev/shm      tmpfs     nodev,nosuid        0      0

                                 File: fstab
#
# /etc/fstab: static file system information
#
# <file system>        <dir>         <type>    <options>          <dump> <pass>
devpts                 /dev/pts      devpts    defaults            0      0
shm                    /dev/shm      tmpfs     nodev,nosuid        0      0

#/dev/cdrom             /media/cd   auto    ro,user,noauto,unhide   0      0
#/dev/dvd               /media/dvd  auto    ro,user,noauto,unhide   0      0
#/dev/fd0               /media/fl   auto    user,noauto             0      0

UUID=14a904e1-3d60-45b3-a811-62c7e2a31ca8 /var reiserfs defaults 0 1

UUID=cdb1a377-e21f-4235-a43c-2da460fccf78 /boot ext2 defaults 0 1

I'm not sure if this helps but the order i created the partitions in was root,var,swap,home,boot
and my fstab file is showing var,swap,home,root,boot
I'm not sure what else i can say about this problem,im not sure if this is linked to whatever happened
but now i have a sudoers.pacnew file with my root permissions commented out,is that because sudo
was updated?

Regarding pacnew and pacsave files, see this. I have no idea why KDE is not working for you and it is likely unrelated to the pacnew stuff.

Re: KDE - Will only login with fail-safe session(SOLVED)

I'm not sure if my kde problem had anything to do with my pacnew files or if it was just something i overlooked but i edited and merged my pacnew's and now everything seems to be working properly again,Thx
