[SOLVED] Terminal not clearing itself

Hi lads,

I just noticed that my terminal started behaving really bad... I do not know what could've happened.
I start nano or any other application that uses whole screen, when I quit terminal is not cleared isntead all that was displayed when nano was running stays on the screen until overwritten bu further commands/output. I am really baffled as why this is happening, when I started vim - oh my god, entire console font (Terminus2) changed and I couldn't read anything, there were some ascii sequences - had to reboot (relogging didn't help).

Did anyone encountered something like this, and more importantly, what have caused it/how to fix it?

Regards,
Greg Gbursson.

For anyone to help you out, they need to know what terminal you are using?

This is a console, before even starting X.

Re: [SOLVED] Terminal not clearing itself

Ctrl-Alt-F2,F3,F4, etc. should work even when the font is messed up.

Sounds like it could be an ncurses problem.  Try reinstalling/updating?

Re: [SOLVED] Terminal not clearing itself

Problem pinpointed: it seems exporting "TERM=xrvt-unicode" messed the console up. export TERM=xterm helped.
