How to transfer files

I have installed archlinux 2010.05 on VMware.
I will be using this system as a FTP server.
I don't know how to connect to this system from windows so that I can transfer the packages and install them.
SCP does'nt work might be because it is not installed / configured.
tried to mount windows share on the archlinux but failed
how can I transfer files from my windows system to the newly installed archlinux. ?

Re: How to transfer files

Once you've set up the network you can just install the openssh package on your server and use any SFTP client (for example Filezilla) on the Windows side to transfer your files back and forth.

Re: How to transfer files

sftp clients are great if you are moving a couple files every once in a while.  but in my opinion, if this is going to be something that you are doing every day you should probably look into setting up a Samba share or maybe an sshfs file system. Avahi may also be relevant to your interests
