External USB Card Reader

I have a multi card reader USB. When I put in a card the LED on the reader lights up, but fdisk -l shows nothing.

If I put in a MicroSD to SD USB Adapter/Converter (Basically direct usb) its able to see the card.. not sure whats going on here..
