Usb-mouse needs to be reconnected in order to start working

When i start my computer I have to plug out and then plug in my mouse in order to get it work in X. It doesn't matter if I reconnect it before or after I start the X, so I'm reasoning out that it has to be a kernel problem or something to do with evdev. For my eyes it also looks like that it's been detected during the boot, because of the following line with dmesg:

input: Logitech USB-PS/2 Optical Mouse as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.0/usb2/2-4/2-4:1.0/input/input6

Any ideas what could be the problem here?

Re: Usb-mouse needs to be reconnected in order to start working

are you running any sort of laptop power saving stuff?  Maybe USB auto-suspend is turned on.

When I run 'powertop' it recommends I enable it for my USB mouse but when I follow the advice, my mouse is dead until I unplug/plug it

Re: Usb-mouse needs to be reconnected in order to start working

Is your xorg.conf hard-coding a reference to the USB port, or making an invalid assumption that the mouse will be on e.g. /dev/input/event6?

No powersaving and in xorg.conf the assumption is that the device will be found in /dev/input/event*

Re: Usb-mouse needs to be reconnected in order to start working

Suddenly (could be that it's been like this all the time, but I haven't noticed before) it started to work sometimes without re-plugin, so at least I have no clue anymore what it could be.
