I partitioned my disk using xfs file system (pleonasm, I know) for root partition and used all the tricks I know to pump it (noatime, logbufs=8, logbsize=262144, deadline elevator) because I read a lot of good about it here:
http://mindplusplus.wordpress.com/2011/ … 1-edition/
Then I installed Heroes 4 via Wine (for my gf) and... it's lagging like never before! Why is that? I believe is not so much threads in the game... but for curiosity I tested the same with reiserfs and there was lags too (not so large thought).
My PC was cheap but brand-new so... and with ext4 everything worked fine but I wanted to INCRASE it's working possiblities.
Another question: is using reiserfs for /var any good for anything alse than pacman's speed? I can see no use of it...
I'm thinkig of using some small disks for every mountpoint each or something...

reiserfs 3.6 really isn't that fast at smaller files. ext4 beats it at many operations.

So is there any reason I should use complicated partitioning if I'm not interested in backup possibilities?
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=115220 - here's the story of my partition table... and everythig just worked better without all these ideas of mine.
