You should also search the AUR to make sure that someone else hasn't already created a PKGBUILD for the application(s) that you are wanting to install...

I've found such before. But of course, after I found that software I made an AUR package for it .
In general the AUR doesn't have packages that nobody/very few people use.

you may look at mazrim PKGBUILD
it uses a .deb python source.
