[SOLVED] How do I put a kernel on HOLD?

The latest kernel doesn't play nice with my old lappie (the network, touchpad, and keyboard won't work with it).  I've done an "IgnorePkg = " with other packages, but never with the kernel.

How do I tell pacman to NOT upgrade to the latest kernel (2.6.39, in this case)?

you might also have to ignore proprietary video drivers (if you use them), because once a new kernel comes in, the video drivers are re-compiled against the new kernel and will probably not work with the old kernel version.

There might be other such packages like xorg etc.

In short, use IgnorePkg temporarily and keep testing the newer builds of the kernel to see if the bugs/issues that bother you have been fixed and accordingly update to the latest one.

Excellent.  Thank you!  It was the

IgnorePkg = kernel26 kernel26-firmware

part that I was looking for--and, yes, thanks for reminding me about the video drivers.
