disk full during pacman - cleanup?

my / drive just got filled while installing something via pacman, now my system is crap.  what should I delete to clean up downloaded files from pacman?

If /var is not on a separate partition you can clear the package cache - pacman's man page explains how

done that, not enough smile  I accidentally started installing gnome3.  I mean to do it on another system but was connected to my home server by accident!  argh...what a hassle.  stupid 7.5GB / partition.

I Have a fresh install  20G /   and a 25G /home  (no separate /boot or /var).
With gnome 3, xfce4.8. Libre Office, Gimp, base, and base-devel packages installed
total space on root is 3.1G

You can install localepurge and remove unwanted locales, clear /tmp
and unwanted fonts, logs etc.
pacman -Scc will clear the pacman cache but only do this if you are certain
you dont need to downgrade any packages:
