Blank DVD not getting detected

I'm trying to burn a slack 13.37 disc to put on an older computer (no boot from flash drive support) but after conveniently making 2 or 3 coasters, brasero stopped detecting blank DVDs. Infuriatingly, K3b has as well. Any simple solutions?

Things were working OK and then ...? You haven't changed anything?
After recent udev updates /dev/cdrom isn't created anymore by default. Maybe those apps rely on it (or on /dev/dvd or something like that).

Re: Blank DVD not getting detected

I rebooted to see if the copies of k3b or brasero on any of the other 2 distros I have installed on this machine would work properly (no coasters). When I logged back into my arch partition, brasero wasn't detecting them at all. So how would I fix it? Would a simple mkdir /dev/dvd work?

Well it should be easy to try. Also try mknod /dev/dvd. If brasero or k3b come with any scripts try searching them for these device nodes and changing them to /dev/sr0.

Great things come in tar.xz packages.
