[SOLVED] key hits get eaten in pseudo terminal

I am using X without a problem and no issues. However, when I switch to one of the pseudo terminals with CTRL+ALT+F1/F2...etc, very annoyingly, my key presses get "eaten" on an irregular basis. I cannot reproduce this, but every 5 or so characters simply don't get accepted even though I definitely pressed them. Any ideas how to fix this?

I have the same problem occasionally but it only happens in tty1.

I can confirm this. Does anyone know why this happens in tty1 and how to fix it?

Last time I heard about this problem, it was to do with Slim. I don't know if it ever got patched or not. Try searching the forums, this issue comes up a lot.

Thanks, jac. It must have been indeed slim. I got rid of it and am running in runlevel 3 now using startx. Who needs that stuff anyway on a single-user machine right?

Exactly, it's KISS.

@Foucault, @Dastingo: If your problem still persists and you can't find anything by searching the forums, I encourage you to open your own topics about your problem.
