Installing Awesome - how to update to xcb-util-0.3.8

Hello everyone,

So to get down to it i have been attempting to install awesome, and i was making some decent progress but it seems i have hit a wall.

Also note i have been working on trying to get this to work, trying everything i possibly could find as a fix for the past 4 days with no luck so please don't tell me to 'use google'

Basically where i extracted awesome the output of

mkpkg -s

Comes up with

target not found: xcb-util>=0.3.8

Now obviously that means i have to go out and grab xcb-util-0.3.8, but it seems that at this moment the current version to download is 0.3.6

I have tried to manually download xcb-util-0.3.8 from freedesktop.org and install it from source which seemed like it worked because there were no errors when doing

./configure
make
make install

But still it seems to think i haven't installed it and continues to tell me the same "target not found bs"

Any ideas on how i can completely install awesome?

Thanks everyone

Re: Installing Awesome - how to update to xcb-util-0.3.8

Instead of https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=13916 try using http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=41362 http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=40641 needs xcb-util>=0.3.6.

If you don't install a package with makepkg but manually via './configure && make && make install' pacman won't notice it, it makes little sense to do so.

Are you sure you need t install 'bs'? https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=49008 - it's a game ;P

Haha, no i don't need 'bs' i was saying bullsh*t, the output i was referring to was the original one "target not found: xcb-util>=0.3.8"

Let me give what you are referring a go.
