Flashplugin crashes/freezes whole computer

I've been having whole-computer freeze-ups for perhaps the past 2 weeks or so. Just wondering if there are any suggestions for how to deal with this. It's been quite hard to find anyone else having this issue, as searches for "flash freeze" or "flash crash" almost always reference browser crashes or plugin crashes.

My entire system literally halts. Conky stops updating, keyboard shortcuts fail... nothing. My mouse moves, though. I used to try and wait it out in hopes I wouldn't have to do a hard kill with the power button. Once I even walked away, did some stuff, and came back, but it was still frozen.

There seems to be a reference to this issue on the AUR page for flashplugin-beta and perhaps here on unix.com, but I haven't found much else.

Anyone else having this problem? Any fixes? Just wait for adobe to figure itself out?

I'm running x86_64 on an HP8540w, nvidia quadro fx 1800m.

Thanks.

@anish:

Is it this line?

EnableLinuxHWVideoDecode=1

If so, I'll comment that and report back in a couple weeks.

Yes, that's the one. Setting it to 0 should work as well

Re: Flashplugin crashes/freezes whole computer

@anish: thanks. I commented it and haven't had issues yet. I'll post back in about two weeks to confirm and mark as solved. Thanks again.
