Hi to everyone, I have this error that is killing me. I'm using ArchLinux like 2 months now, everything were normal until the upgrade to kernel 3.0 (in my case that includes an upgrade for udev, initscript, dbus, etc). No wireless, no ethernet and no sound. In the moment I thought that I did something wrong, so I just back up my home and reinstall arch with the latest image that is in the repos (archlinux-2011.07-2-archboot.iso). Everything cool (my wireless and ethernet cool too) until I make pacman -Syu
Upgrade the kernel, and everything else, I change grub, change the rc.conf (I use wicd for network management), I even put in the modules array my wireless module (Broadcom Corporation BCM4313 -> brcmsmac) and nothing happen...
If I boot up with kernel 26, nothing different happens.
ifconfig just put me "lo".
modprobe brcmsmac and nothing.
I'm frustrated. I try to check in the forums but the similars to my problem, doesn't resolve my problem. Thanks in advance for any type of help.

Was your /boot mounted when you installed linux3.0? I did the same thing and I fixed it by just copying what it has on /boot without your mountpoint to your /boot partition.

My partitions are simple, one is swap and the other one is everything (ext4), so all my system was mounted when I upgrade to linux3.0, in /boot resides the initframs-linux image and the kernel26 image

Trying to fix problem installing again all packages from local and then reboot (the last option that I read that had a similar problem to mine) and Fail. I'll reinstall Arch (again ) to have my wireless and ethernet working and I'm not going to upgrade to kernel 3.0 or udev. Please if someone have an idea I'll be happy to hear it!

Post the output of
ls -1 /etc/modprobe.d/
If you find your sound and net modules blacklisted, read https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 74#p968474

Sir you have my gratitude, I feel a little stupid, that was the solution, all my modules where blacklisted. I'm changing this to resolve

You're not stupid at all. It's a bug, the modules got blacklisted automatically w/o you realizing it.
