I recently noticed that kjots does not check for incorrect spellings automatically (unlike tomboy). I tried to find any setting that might enable this feature, but I couldn't. Does kjots not support auto spell-checking? If it does that how do we enable it? And if its enabled by default then its not working for me, Please help . Spell checker is working fine in konqueror (and of course I have the aspell-en package installed).
Another similar issue I'm facing is that the auto spell checking in kate is also not working. I have the enabled the plugin Settings> Configure Kate...>Editor Component>Extensions>Data Tool, but still the wrong spellings go undetected.
Any suggestions on where I'm going wrong. Many thanks in advance.

Though I no longer use KDE, I just found out that kate has now included on-the-fly spell-check feature in a recent version. So, I'm just going to mark this thread as solved now
EDIT:
I recently installed Kubuntu and I can confirm that auto spell-check works in the latest version.
