Ok, so I like grub2, and I would love to use it with Arch. Two questions. One: How do I know if I need the BIOS system or the UEFI system?
In any event, I have the feeling that I need the BIOS system, since I have BIOS, and I have no idea what UEFI is. If that is the case, I have another question.
In the wiki, the first command it tells me to execute is this:
# dd if=/dev/zero of=<your_disk> bs=440 count=1
I would assume that my_disk is /dev/sda. dd isn't normally a command I execute with /dev/sda as the target. In fact, this this sounds like a bad idea and a good way to destroy all my data and my system. Is it just talking about the boot partitin or what? If yes, the wiki needs to by rephrased before somebody destroys their system.

Not the boot partition, that command will zero out the code part of the MBR. I've never needed to do that. YMMV.

So it is the main device, which is /dev/sda in most cases.
