Is it possible to create a CD with several labels of which only one is visble depending on the way you tilt the CD. That would kick ass. smile

Yes, it would be awesome!

When I am writing a reply in this thread I could mention that I have made some corrections to the tango icons for arch. Hopefully the versions with errors will be replaced by some corrected versions, but the only thing I can do is hope because it isn't my decision. I think it's sad that it can make some artwork look less appealing.

Not to be off topic, but thanks for fixing those shadow issues on the SVG files.  That annoyed me too and I either adjusted them or took the shadow out on the designs I've been fooling around with and never thought to post the updated versions.  Good work!

Thanks!

First thoughts was actually that it is a simple problem and everyone who have ever done some artistc work could fix it. Then after seeing some use (or maybe abuse in this case) of these icons, I reallize that some people used the SVG files without knowing or carring about the issue with the shadow. I really couldn't stand the error so it seemed like a simple thing to fix the shadow and then share the corrected versions. Hopefully it would mean that there would be no more abuse of these icons, but that is something that I don't have that much control over. At least I can make the situation better...

Re: Need a CD Label!

Out of interest, which design was picked? Just ordered a disc, $5 including international shipping isn't bad.

Heh, I was just thinking the same thing.
Ordered my CD yesterday and I guess I'll find out soon.

Recieved my disc on Monday. It's Elastic Dog's design.

Re: Need a CD Label!

The CD does indeed look very nice. Especially considering the price.
No color (just black print) but the design is superb.

Re: Need a CD Label!

Hey all,

This is my first post on these boards, but I wanted to thank Judd and the Arch Linux community for a great distro!  I'm not that ecstatic about the name change, though..

Now, down to business.  There are CD labels on this thread that I've used and updated to 0.8 Voodoo, so thanks to the original creators (PJ and elasticdog).  I have .png and. svg labels.
for archlinux-cdlabel-0.8-1.png click here for .svg.

for arch-voodoo.png click here for .svg.

I hope the original authors don't mind me messing with their artwork, but I wanted CD labels that were updated. smile

Nope, I don't mind. I am actually glad that you did it since I have been a bit busy lately.

Re: Need a CD Label!

don't you think we need cover saying what the disc contains?
I mean we need covers saying: i686 or x86_64
or 32bit / 64bit, which ever the designer likes best!
Brennan is it possible to fix this? smile
it would also be nice to make them cover the area near the inner-circle of the cd disc (since most printable discs are white until the inner circle) if it isn't much difficult smile

if a find some time to do it I'm thinking of a cover for mini-cd (you know, the 8cm one) which is ideal for arch-base big_smile
