Thanks a bunch, that was a speedup I was looking for. This part now done, just need to figure out how to stop dhcp overwriting my resolv.conf. Any ideas ? (sorry for a bit offtopic) :>

Hi, I miss kchmpart in konqueror. I use kchmviewer, but i like embedding viewing so i would be thankful for this feature.

Re: kdemod - a lightified and modular KDE + additional patches

I am having problems with the last update, something has broken kde-look.org, kde-apps.org and others.
Links on these pages seem to be redirecting back to the main page or showing "listing forbidden' etc.
My guess is http referrer is not being sent correctly.
I see you added http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show.php?content=32550 . could this be the root of the problem?

Anyone else getting this?

[Edit]
Just rolled back kdelibs and problem is solved, definitely something fishy about that patch... anyone else care to confirm?

Cheers,

Steve.

@steve_v
Same problem here. www.kde-look.org and www.kde-apps.org don't work normal in konqueror.

Hi, is it only my system or you all suffer sometimes from kicker crash after some operation (like changing cursor's theme, opening kweather applet's window etc.).
I makes the work with kdemod unpleasant if I wonder when it will crash.

For me kdemod is really stable, no crashes at all.

qdlaty: I have kicker crashes after I change something, now and then, yes... But I don't do that often anyway.

superstoned: Mine kdemod use to crashed even when I try to open Kicker Menu or after plug-in USB device and konqueror opening. After whole configuration removal kicker only crashes when I change something in general look.

BTW, is there any way to change default file manager from konqueror to d3lphin ?

Yes!
KDE Control-Center -> KDE Components -> File association. In "Known types" expend "inode" and select "directory". On the right hand side of the window, just move Dolphin at first place of the list.

I think there is a problem with this. I could be related to Dolphin though, and not kdemod (I use dolphin at work too on gentoo). When plugging a usb key, I get the kde "autorun" which ask if I want to mount/open the device. I select to mount/browse it, but a popup appear saying that the link appears to be a folder but it though it was a file (or the opposite). Maybe a bug on how dolphin handles arguments...

I can confirm this problem. I have only noticed it on the kde-apps similar pages so far. Hitting F5 two times fixes the problem.

Re: kdemod - a lightified and modular KDE + additional patches

About the kde-* sites and konqueror: I'll remove the patch since i also have some problems with it now...

Kicker does not crash here and generally the whole thing is very stable. The only issue i had were frequent freezes, but this was related to a kernel issue...

btw, there is a improved version of dolphin called d3lphin available, it has more features from the kde4 version... here is a quick PKGBUILD:

pkgname=d3lphin
pkgver=0.9
pkgrel=1
pkgdesc="Improved version of dolphin, a file manager for KDE focusing on usability"
url="https://marrat.homelinux.org/marratwiki/D3lphin"
depends=('kdelibs')
conflicts=('dolphin')
source=(http://marrat.homelinux.org/marratwiki/d3lphin-0.9.tar.gz)
arch=(i686)
license="GPL"

build() {
     cd $startdir/src/$pkgname-$pkgver
     ./configure --prefix=/opt/kde
     make || return 1
     make DESTDIR=$startdir/pkg install
}

You need to download the source from the site and place it in /var/cache/pacman/src before building it, as the download URL is a bit obscure...

Re: kdemod - a lightified and modular KDE + additional patches

OK, seem to me that D3lphin can not be easily configured as default file manager...

So I've another general KDE question - is it possible to configure "double-click on desktop" action ?
I miss good old Directory Opus feature that caused opening new lister after double click anywhere on desktop.

Thanks.

It worked for me... Just do this for d3lphin:

AFAIK this would require some patching...

I did the trick big_gie advised but d3lphin fails to open dirs with autorun.
Anyway thanks.
I'll be searching for dbl-click feature patch.

Re: kdemod - a lightified and modular KDE + additional patches

Ok... 64 Bit packages are updated now.

Please test, i used pacman 3.0.2 to build them can anyone with a 2.x pacman installed verify that it works?

I removed the http_slave patch and the jingle support from kopete because both lead to problems here (and jingle doesn't work on 32 Bit either, it just crashes if you are called by a google talk user)

Re: kdemod - a lightified and modular KDE + additional patches

Maybe it has already been asked, but I would like to know, which package I have to install in order to install all the screensavers which I am used to have at my disposal from Kubuntu and SuSE.

I was not yet able to figure out how it is named - or if it is available at all.
