Well, ekerazha, I must agree with him. What does upstart do? Start services. Just like the current system.
Actually, it does quite a bit more than just that. Upstart is also a replacement for cron, at, and possibly file monitoring and events based on media insertion, as well as service starting.
Think of upstart as an event manager, not just a service starter.
I do not really have an opinion either way at this point, about whether upstart is good or not. I haven't used it very much, and only did cursory research on it..

currently, most (if not all) of this functionallity isn't there yet. So, as I said, we should wait. It offers much less benefits for the Arch users (why do we have such a simple init?) so let 'em shake out the bugs. I'm pretty sure, actually, that in time upstart will replace most other init systems, and cron etcetera. So it's not that I'm against upstart, I think it's a great technology. Just not yet for Arch.
Some experimentation wouldn't hurt, of course, so we'll be ready if it comes, but I figure that'll take a few years still.
