Re: January 2008 Screenshots

it didn't take me long at all to set up my gmail account with mutt.  i followed the instructions in the archwiki page about mutt, and all went smoothly.

I've seen young people waste their time reading books about sensitive vampires. It's kinda sad. But you say it's not the end of the world... Well, maybe it is!

Re: January 2008 Screenshots

Wow, I didn't imagine my screenshot could cause so many reactions big_smile

Anyway, yes, Screen is great if you make extensive use of CLI apps. It's more or less like a "window manager" for the terminal. As you can see I have organised my own "workspaces", and have all apps open automatically at startup, so I have, for example a Vim server on screen 2, elinks on screen 3 and w3m, in case I need to see images, on screen 6, and so on.
The best CLI mail client I have found is Alpine, I highly recommend it, it's in AUR.

And here is my .Xdefaults file, even though there is no much to see there, since I use gnome-settings-daemon:

Xft*dpi:96
Xft*antialias:true
Xft*hinting:full
ratmen.font: -misc-fixed-medium-r-*-*-12-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
*.font: -misc-fixed-medium-r-*-*-12-*-*-*-*-*-*-*

In case you're intrested, my terminal is gnome-terminal (not really minimalistic, huh?) and the font is Liberation Mono.
Enjoy! smile

How did you learn about the Xft* entries? Are they documented somewhere?

@ upsidaisium
I think with this configuration I can afford a gnome-terminal, it just looks better and it has all the features I need big_smile

@ Agent69
To be honest I can't really remember, it was a long time ago. I think I got  that Xft stuff from this forum somewhere.

Screenshot - Possibly NSFW

Just playing around with shades of grey. But I need to learn how to alter the colors of the GTK (which FF uses) to match.

Apps: Twm; Xterm; Bash; Conky; Firefox

a few changes.. smaller borders (10px got to be pretty ridiculous), different tiling mode, stopped hiding the dwm status bar..

Playing with pekwm

archjan2008thumb.png

+ pekwm
+ sonata
+ urxvt
+ pypanel
+ visibility

Just a question I'll throw out there. Does anyone know if it's possible to click the far right/left side of the screen in Openbox to switch desktops? You can do this is pekwm, and it is a very convenient feature.
