using kdemod shutdown is pretty fast, never had any problems with that, can shutdown as user and seeing all the shutdown messages etc, everything works normal here.
using ext2 on the root partition myself, not having those errors as well, only with unclean shutdowns etc, maybe something related to xfce?
Are you using the SSD version of the AA1?

yes, using the sdd version, did nothing to tweak shutdown or anything, using andyrtrs kernel.

I made a package for acerfand in AUR:
http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=23140
Feel free to test it. You have to add acerfan to the DAEMONS array, no more.

Hi all,
As you have noticed, I've been a bit off this days. Work and life have catch up on me
Now, for the sake of not having 20 kernel builds I'll leave the kernel26-one AUR package to someone capable of maintain it further. I'll still be around to see the news and doubts.
Who thinks capable of maintain this, please mail me.

Okay, I\ve been having a lot of problems with using my SDHC card as /home in gothicknights kernel. Sometimes it just doesn't mount for some reason, resuming from suspend sometimes doesn't work. It's way weird. I have the sdhci.debug_quirks=1 in my kernel line in grub. Anybody suffer from the same issue?
For the record, my old SD-card worked flawlessly, so it's got to be the SDHC module.
E: This is my fstab, minus a few standard lines.
# Disable the temporary stuff to conserve writes.
none /var/log tmpfs defaults,size=4M 0 0
none /var/tmp tmpfs defaults,size=50M 0 0
none /tmp tmpfs defaults,size=300M 0 0
none /var/cache/pacman/pkg tmpfs defaults,size=300M 0 0
LABEL=SD_HOME /home ext2 defaults,noatime,nodiratime 0 0
E2: Running the kernel26-one-dev kernel from AUR right now, will see if there's any improvement. Quite a strange error really.
E3: Great, it randomly marks the root fs as read-only. Going back to the regular kernel26-one now.

Installed it yesterday, what do you want to know?

using kdemod 4.1 on my aa1 as well, running pretty smooth without desktop effects, never tried with desktop effects on.

Running it with effects on here, still runs smooth.

What does AA1 users alsa settings look like to have the internal mic work reasonably well?
I've tried to set it up to be used with skype but can't get it to work at all really. The mic might be crappy, but surely it must be possible to get some sort of capture that is of acceptable quality?
Any hints, tips?
Edit: I installed OSS to see if that would change anything and guess what, everything is now working beautifully well. So, away goes alsa and with skype-oss installed my AA1 finally feels like it is fully equipped.

Aren't you have any issues? System tray icons, cannot paste...On another topic I posted funkyou said that it is buggy and he recommended to use the KDEmod 4.2...I reverted back to XFCE4 right now and planning to test KDEmod 4.2 soon...:)

Only thing I noticed was the tray icons, but it didn't bother me too much.

about the aur package of the kernel, anyone wanna take care of it? i would suggest andyrtr if he would like to, as the original starter of that thread and compiling the first aa1 kernel, and i like his builds
Offline
no need to change the AUR maintainer. it's easy to modify what you need. my own one does differ much.
Offline
yeah but gothikknight said he has no time anymore so for upcoming kernels i would love a package in aur instead of compiling myself, laziness wins

aur is compiling yourself
but i can take it or help another one who wants to maintain it.

@AndyRTR: I'm currently using your kernel and I'm having problems on the right SD-SLOT.
I have an SDHC (4gb) at the left slot and a MMC (1gb) at the right. It seems that when I put the SDHC first on the left slot, my system will fail to mount the card on the right slot. I have to remove my SDHC at the left slot first. Then, insert the MMC in the right slot and they will be both mounted...:/ This solution would not be appropriate if I will be using my right SDHC as my /home...:| Any tips to mount these two properly? Thanks...:)
edit: this issue was fixed after upgrading my system...:)
Now I have another issue. As you can see I both an AA1 110 with 1gb ram. I have noticed that when using my stock kernel, conky shows my total ram greater than using AndyRTR's kernel...
998.97mb (Stock kernel)
881.41mb (AndyRTR's kernel)
I had read that these custom kernel supports only up to 1gb of ram, maybe this had caused it...

Anyone else using the stock kernel and having some problems?
My wireless used to work after a suspend/resume... but doesn't want to know, and I added that susend_modules line to the file aswell.
edit: Apparently sth5k isn't the name of my wireless module (silly typo!)

yes, it is compiling myself but with a ready to go kconfig file and without looking through that what i need and don't need so less work for me

anyone else having problems with acerfand since today? my fan spins down and up like every 5 secs(seems like how long the update intervall is) and the aa1 is shutting down a while after that, worked like a charm before, has maybe something to do with an update?

I had these problems before and thought that it is because of my BIOS version 3307 which is reported as unsupported by acerfand. I will update to 3309 asap and report whether this fixes anything. btw, I am using the stock 2.6.28 kernel, if that may matter.

My fan is quite noisy, but I am hesitant to upgrade the BIOS in case something goes wrong. Have you updated the BIOS before without issue?
