This is caused by an old version of lib32-libxcb. Anyone know who's the maintainer? I can't find the package in AUR.

You can get the package through ABS. Simply change the version number will work.

Anyway, thanks for the tip.

Could you explain a little more? How would I go about updating lib32-libxcb from ABS if I can't get the PKGBUILD from AUR? What do you mean change the version number?

Ahhhh, I always thought it was weird to have two names for the same thing. Fair enough.

Since I responded i navigated to /var/abs/community/lib32/... etc and started messing around with it on my own. I'm trying to find out what  I need to change the version to in lib32-libxcb. Right now it's set to 1.1. Maybe I'm still misunderstanding...

Yay, ABSing in 1.1.93 worked great for me. I clear my pacman cache often, so finding the old version in there wasn't an option. I still wish I coulda just used yaourt -Sb like I can for 99% of other packages, but the annoying AUR/community64 bug prevents me from it

Downgrading lib32-libx11 worked here, too. It seems almost impossible to break Arch for very long.

Good news! With the latest lib32-libxcb and lib32-libx11, everything seems to work fine. No need to downgrade to old versions now.

sorry to resurrect this thread if not appropriate, but i think i may be experiencing this exact problem on my fresh (~24 hours old) and first arch install. (everything else is working great so far)

then it starts, but the 'earth' in google earth is missing... just empty space, not even stars

I'm not really sure what you mean.. what debs? and which wiki?  The ArchWiki Google Earth page is very short and gives you a direct link to the x86_64 package..  You should just use bin32-google-earth for x86_64.

You know, the arch variable is there for a reason. If the PKGBUILD will ONLY build for i686, then adding x86_64 on your own won't magically result in a 32-bit program becoming 64-bit. Google Earth is 32-bit, and 32-bit only, as of now. So is skype. And wine (please, noone mention wine64, that's different).

Ubuntu does multi-lib, Arch doesn't. You need bin32-google-earth, or a 32-bit chroot. Both of which can be found on the wiki.
