@will1911a1: For the first one, I had that weird issue too, but I found a way.

What I did was randomly selecting the icon type to "File/launcher icons" and then going back to "None." This actually worked and all the icons on the desktop disappeared without checking off the Default Icons.

edit: btw, is there a way to adjust the shadow setting in compositing? It's actually wider then normal by default.

Thanks, that worked like a charm.  It looks like the "minimized" selection for icons doesn't do ANYTHING at this point.  Also when I set conky to autorun it won't show up, but if I use the Run Program selection from the right-click menu it shows up fine.

Not sure about the shadows, I haven't messed with them yet.

i see that the right click menu of xfce no longer opens a gui to edit the item ... is this normal? sad

I don't have the option either, which was dissapointing.

Re: Xfce 4.6 Final is out!

For me this update rendered some icons invisible (on Arch64), the "terminal" and "file browser" icons on the quick launch bar are invisible but still launch the associated programs. I have deleted all configs related to Thunar, xfce and all thunbnails (while not running xfce) and started it afterwards. Also most of the icons in the applications menu are blank with a red cross inside.
I may install Arch64 from scratch again (as I tested this on a secondary partition with an almost freshly installed Arch) and see if this still happens, anyway I guess this can be considered a bug as it didn't work as expected.

Re: Xfce 4.6 Final is out!

Indeed, some icons were lost.
But I was extreamly surprised by the fact that speed of startup and overall speed are incresed. Startup time of terminal and thunar also decreased.

Re: Xfce 4.6 Final is out!

Can't install the group xfce4-goodies

error: unresolvable package conflicts detected
error: failed to prepare transaction (conflicting dependencies)
:: notification-daemon-xfce: conflicts with xfce4-notifyd

Seems to be a dependency problem, that both of them are marked as necessary whereas one should provide the other (I think?).

Re: Xfce 4.6 Final is out!

Conflicting packages are:
libxfce4mcs
xfce-mcs-manager
xfce-mcs-plugins

And some more conflicts in the optional xfce4-goodies group:
notification-daemon-xfce
xfce4-screenshooter-plugin
xfce4-xmms-plugin

Those packages should be ignored for a successful XFCE 4.6 installation.

I just removed the obsolete xmms-plugin. Now all old stuff should have gone. Please report if there's something left.

Re: Xfce 4.6 Final is out!

On the missing icons problems, I've seen the solution on another thread http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=66435
Just install tango-icon-theme or gnome-icon-theme although this one will pull a few dependencies.

Re: Xfce 4.6 Final is out!

Has anyone else run into problems with Openbox after installing XFCE 4.6? Before I was able to login to XFCE, switch the theme over to Xfce-dusk and Openbox would use it with GTK applications, but now I've found it's sending me back to the ugly Redmond default. Xfce4-dusk is still available while in XFCE, but it's not carrying over anymore. Also, if I remember correctly, I was able to run xfce4-settings from inside Openbox; now I'm presented with an error about being unable to connect to the session bus. =:0(

Re: Xfce 4.6 Final is out!

XFCE 4.6 is very nice.  i have already switched to it on my EEE, and i am considering making it my default environment again, after 2 years. I had last used it back when Shadowhand maintained xfce-svn in [unstable] smile

There shouldn't be any reason to learn more editor types than emacs or vi -- mg (1)

Re: Xfce 4.6 Final is out!

I'm having trouble with the panel. The clipman applet specifically.
It just dies, the panel keeps removing the applet and I have to keep re-adding it.
EDIT: Damn, it did it again. I've now put in glipper through xfapplet but I don't like this solution...

Yes, same here, the keyboard icon is nowhere to be seen.
Also I have noted that some other icons may by missing, ex.: when copying something with thunar it should show some icon but it just shows a blank sheet with a red cross (I guess this is the same problem).

Clearlooks OSX.  Changed themes to check this out, it (and others) is missing from most of the basic themes, it's not missing in any of the "huge" custom themes.
