Yeah I'm a little wary of that. I'd really prefer to stick with the simple stuff.
I guess you are not familiar with bash scripting. I could write a custom acpid handler for you, but I will need the exact behaviour and the apropriate acpi codes for the actions you want...
going through the default script and the acpi events I can see, that for example battery events are reported differently than what the default script expects.
