the kernel.org mirror doesn't seem to be that much up to date here, I'd try the giantix-server.de one if you want the least delay atm.

Package emacs-cvs was broken for me. I switched to emacs from extra, that one works.
Emacs from extra is an old build with plenty of bugs. You should use either emacs-bzr or emacs-git (faster download) from AUR.
The build time isn't too long, and the package isn't updated too often that you'd have to compile it every other day; it's once or twice a month, and very worth it.

Firefox isn't working.....I changed my mirrorlist to include the latest synced mirror so I could update libpng and libjpeg (along with a BOATLOAD of other packages) and when I try to launch firefox in kdemod it reads:
Couldn't load XPCOM.
So hopefully there is a dependency that hasn't been uploaded to that mirror yet. I used:
Server = ftp://ftp.archlinux.org/$repo/os/x86_64

Yea, I just read the second page of the thread where you mentioned reinstalling cairo-lcd. I'm going to give it a shot and I'll report updates. Thanks

2.
I'm using the kernel.org mirrors and I've uncommented both the http and the ftp one in my mirrorlist.
Before, during and after the upgrade I keep having a strange situation: giving pacman -Syyu one time tells me that the local database is up to date, but if I give a second pacman -Syyu, pacman tells me that nearly all my packages are newer than the repos' and asks me to "upgrade" (but it's a downgrade) ffmpeg and openjdk.
Really can't understand what's going on.
The kernel.org "mirror" is actually several servers, which are not equally up-to-date. When you did the second Syyu, you got an older mirror. If you want to avoid this, don't use yy.

Thanks,
yaourt -S libpng12 libjpeg7
solved all my problems after the updates. I don't care about official and external repos. The things I need should just work. Now skype, kdemod, shaman, etc are ok again.
In my initial post I thought yaourt -S libpng12 was a good solution, but please check out the answers the rest of the people here gave me and you'll see that this is only one not so good work-aournd.
Do the following: (Im just summing up what others have told here before.)
# pacman -Rsn libpng12 (or whatever other packages related to that you've instlled from AUR)
# pacman -Rd cairo-lcd
# pacman -S cairo librsvg (upgrading librsvg will solve a few other issues with some programs so I suggest that you do it)
Reboot your computer and X will start fine.
If you want cairo-lcd do the following after a successfull reboot:
# pacman -Rd cairo
# yaourt -S cairo-lcd
edit its PKGBUILD by adding or modifying the following at line 28 (thanks Hador!):
sed -i -e 's/libpng1[0-9]/libpng14/' ./configure || return 1
continue the installation, logout and login and everything should be working fine...at least that was the story for me

Yep, I can confirm that again.......the sed line in the PKGBUILD will fix cairo-lcd.
I uninstalled and deleted cairo-lcd, installed cairo, tested firefox (it worked), uninstalled and deleted cairo, then installed cairo-lcd using yaourt (edited the PKGBUILD adding the sed line at line 28)
All seems to be well now.

Hmmm I didn't have cairo-lcd before and I can't build remmina

Arghh ... my fault ... again. Sorry.
I didn't see the -2 release version, just the 2.1.2 version. I saw it flagged out-of-date so I went the official page and saw no new update. And although I've updated the mirrorlist two days ago, I didn't have any update today... so thanks to you, after another run of reflector, I have that update with some others. Thanks and sorry again.
EDIT: Definitely I have to drink coffee at mornings.

Not sure yet if this will cause problems though.

1.0.0b1-3... I tried to uninstall and reinstall the openttt via the yaourt (yaourt -R openttd, yaourt -S openttd) What should I do more?
And also my QStardict isn't working for the same reason :-)

wine 1.1.38 won't work at this rate: i use wine from git and it cannot be compiled anymore since i just upgraded to new libpng (and probably the same for libjpeg). The issue is upstream, but i don't really know if they will support the new versions. Even if they did, they would need some day to work it out: if they can't do it before 1.1.38, arch wine won't compile. Simple solution is leaving 1.1.37 in the repositories till someone makes a working patch.

you might want to be more explicit, posting some logs with your updated packages, since here i use all packages except gpicview and this one was rebuilt as well against newest libpng

Well, the addressing of this issue could be more clear, I've no idea what advice should be trusted, and if the issue still exists etc. For example, "Allan" said "Let me make this clear... EVERYTHING in the official repos has been recompiled.", does that mean there's no problems? Also, user "Flasher" has a few lines of commands in relation to this issue, but they seem to only show some extra information. In any case, this thread is a mess.

@nawitus start by looking what unsupported packages you have. pacman -Qm. if cairo-something is in the list, you should rebuild it and reinstall gkt2.
if you have proper cairo package from our repos, try reinstall gtk2 as maybe some dependency of gtk2 was updated after gtk2. we can clarify that if you had posted a log with packages you got updated

It is from the community repository. The server from what I've downloaded it was probably the Czech one, but I think it is not important and this server is actual as I've looked.
I will delete that package from the /var/cache/pacman/pkg/ and download it again to see if it will help...
EDIT: It is x86_64 package :-)
