select() to /dev/rtc timeout [solved]

I have no idea what, when, why or how it happened but some time recently the init script and shutdown script gave me an error of select() to /dev/rtc timeout waiting for clock tick.

When running /sbin/hwclock --show it timed out as well.  I thought it was a permission thing, it wasn't.  So, I edited the rc.sysinit and the rc.shutdown scripts and added --directisa to the /sbin/hwclock lines, all works fine now.

Just thought I'd post it incase anyone else comes accross this issue.

Cheers!
