Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000

I just got a Microsoft nek4000, and have it installed and running on Arch-current.  I've even patched the latest kernel to add the driver for it, but I don't have all the keys working.

Has anyone else got this keyboard working 100% under arch?

Also, if you want a mostly-working kernel driver for the keyboard, drop me a line, and I'll give you my PKGBUILD.

F1..F12 should work by default. Do you noticed, that there is a key on your keyboard to enable/disable this keys, or better, to switch between normal f1..f12-behavior and special-key-behavior? This key is right of f12, and it state is indicated by the lower LED labeled with F. Maybe you just hit this key by accident.

Anyway, I'm interested in getting all keys working on this keyboard too ...

i've had this keyboard for a good six months or so... brilliant keyboard.

try the 2.6.20 patch there, it *may* apply to 2.6.21. I'll give it a try now.

there's a how-to there, though it's slightly out dated, and some of it didnt work to me. importantly though, it mentions Li Yu's patches, which also add support for the extra keys. He sends updated patches to lkml frequently, and there's one there that should work on 2.6.21. you can find them here: http://search.gmane.org/?query=&author= … Ali+yu---A

Re: Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000

I started a new topic as this thread is three years old and the kernel-patches are no longer needed. Also more keys are now working, just the zoom and the 1-5 are not.
