Fresh install no sound[SOLVED]

I have tried various things and keep going round and round reading various posts and trying them, but no solution so far. I'm sure its a simple command that I'm missing. So

sudo fuser -v /dev/snd/*

sk@archlinux ~ $ sudo fuser -v /dev/snd/*
[sudo] password for sk:
                     USER PID ACCESS COMMAND
/dev/snd/controlC0: sk 901 F.... wireplumber
/dev/snd/controlC1: sk 901 F.... wireplumber
/dev/snd/seq: sk 900 F.... pipewire
sk@archlinux ~ $

aplay -lL

sk@archlinux ~ $ aplay -lL
null
Discard all samples (playback) or generate zero samples (capture)

Re: Fresh install no sound[SOLVED]

I solved it. Basically I needed to change the sound card as described in  Advanced Linux Sound Architecture wiki. I used the Alternative methodhttps://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Advanc … ive_method and created /etc/asound.conf and added  type hw in it. All sound works. Now I need to adjust volume sensitivity.

Re: Fresh install no sound[SOLVED]

You should not be doing that while using pipewire and your new config will likely break in subtle ways. What did you set up now?

More likely your profile is wrong, if you're plugged into digital out select the digital profile

pactl set-card-profile alsa_card.pci-0000_00_1b.0 output:iec958-stereo+input:analog-stereo

Re: Fresh install no sound[SOLVED]

@V1del you are right and my system did break. Much later after a lot of tinkering I noticed that the sound when I turned my computer was not working (maybe it was the kernel not sure).  I reinstalled arch and now it seems fine. I've installed timeshift and cron hopefully if the problem resurfaces I'll be able to revive the system to an earlier state.
