After failing to install XAMPP from AUR, i got the installer from the Apache Friends website.
Run 1:
Was on Windows for a project, but switched to Arch. I followed everything in the XAMPP ArchWiki article "Section 4.4: Manual installation", except the "make it executable" part I missed, but XAMPP installed without any problems nonetheless (it seemed). I wanted to host a directory outside /opt/lampp/htdocs/ (Have not tried the same on Windows). I follow the whole "Section 4.1: Hosting files outside the htdocs directory". Section 4.1 says to
> And before the </IfModule> paste this:
> Alias /yourAlias /yourDirectory/
It DID NOT work. HTTP ERROR 500. I then tried `/yourAlias/ /yourDirectory/`, `/yourAlias /yourDirectory` -- no luck. But `/yourAlias/ /yourDirectory` "kinda" worked -- different error code -- 403 Forbidden.
Run 2:
"Maybe I messed up the installation" -- Follow Section 4.4.1: Manual removal. Again follow Section 4.4 - DID NOT LEAVE OUT the "make it executable" part.
"Wait Aliases can wait, I have not checked if simply making a directory inside htdocs works". The path "/opt/lampp/htdocs/bas/index.php" now EXISTS in the filesystem. I go to "http://localhost/bas/" -- again HTTP ERROR 500.
WTF am I doing wrong?
