[SOLVED] Higher Power Consumption since Kernel >=6.8.x

After some trouble shooting and ruling out the GUI and all other variables, i came to the conclusion, that it is related to the Kernel (somehow).

I have an Ryzen 7 5700G and use it with the iGPU

With Kernel 6.7, in idle (even with full blown KDE), all CPU cores go to 400 MHz, i have an average Load of 0.00 and my CPU was around 30-35°C with the Fan being almost cut and the POW of the iGPU was 2W

Since Kernel 6.8, two cores are constantly at 4.2 GHz (not always the same), the Load Average increased to 0.10, CPU Temperature doesn't go below 40°C, the Fan is constantly at 30% and the POW of the iGPU howers around 7-12W

I can not find anything that explains this. When i check the processes, the only thing that is causing CPU Load is top (i closed everything except top. No Wayland, nothing.) and even when i kill top, let the system idle (without any open processes or anything, just the BASH) and come back, it has a load of 0.13 and i don't know what is causing it.

Anyone having an idea on what to check? dmesg has nothing out of the ordinary, journalctl too. Everything looks fine, as it should be.

I even tried the powersave govener to force it down as low as possible but no chance, two cores are always up almost all of the time.

Re: [SOLVED] Higher Power Consumption since Kernel >=6.8.x

I am so stupid. I did an BIOS Update together with the 6.8 Update and did not see the correlation. It was purely an coincidence. I reset the BIOS Settings to default and then set the settings i want/need and tada, the POW went down to 1-2W, CPU Cores are all at 400 MHz, temperature is going down (together with the Fan).
